Dawn Cube

Dawn Cube: Bring Her Home is a 3D spatial puzzle-strategy game. Players guide Dawn, a girl trapped on the surface of a shifting cube, step by step toward the key and the exit, helping her escape from a world that keeps rearranging itself.
The project began with a question: what if a cube was not a toy to be solved from the outside, but a space someone was trapped inside, a space that had to be understood and reshaped? Dawn can only make sense of the small patch of tiles around her, while the player sees the larger structure and sends instructions from beyond her world.
Dawn’s basic action is simple: she can only move to adjacent tiles. The real puzzle comes from changing the space itself. Players rotate cube layers, break tiles, repair voids, place beacons, and use portals to rebuild an escape route under pressure from Chasers and Guardians. Chasers constantly recalculate their paths based on Dawn’s latest position, while Guardians protect keys and exits with a different territorial logic. They are not recolored enemies, but two distinct spatial threats.
Through multiple rounds of playtesting, I kept redesigning the parts players misunderstood most: enemy next-move warnings, long-press rotation controls, tile hover feedback, tutorial spotlights, and toolbox behavior. I gradually realized that a complex mechanic only truly works when players can understand it before acting, use it intentionally, and trust their own judgment.
For me, Dawn Cube is not about stacking mechanics. It is about making a complex space readable, risky, and worth saving.
