The integrated marketing campaign to support the Early Access launch of Demeo: PC Edition presented a unique challenge in the world of games marketing — how do you take a celebrated VR game and bring it to PC audiences in a way that clearly explains headsets are no longer required? And how do you combine that message with a commitment to cross-play and cross-buy, ensuring that players can not only connect between PC and VR, but that owning one version automatically entitles you to the other — all without creating consumer confusion?
The solution to this conundrum focused on reaching players early and often, and through all possible channels. This kicked off with multiple story beats with PC focused-media outlets, and was further built out with direct-to-player engagements including playable demos, hands-on opportunities at major gaming conventions, and outdoor advertising in targeted locations. Efforts also included key engagements with high profile influencers who appeal to tabletop gamers including Critical Role, Penny Arcade, and Felicia Day.
For Demeo: PC Edition, this launch campaign was only the beginning. With new adventures, planned updates, and the game’s inevitable exit from Early Access, we still have plenty more activity to come!
