After ten years of success with their game, League of Legends, in 2020 Riot Games launched Riot Forge. Their stated mission was to bring awesome new games from the League of Legends universe to players by partnering with experienced and talented developers from around the world.
Hextech Mayhem would be one of Riot Forge’s first releases. For fans of League of Legends, a rhythm runner game was a completely unexpected genre and different than anything they’d ever seen.
The foundation of our pitch to Riot Forge was the idea of “explosive ingredients.” We started with elements that were approachable, disruptive-in-a-good-way, and satisfying, setting out to create an announcement trailer that would create a sonic boom within the LoL community. Collaborating closely with Riot Forge, we helped to establish a fresh creative platform for Ziggs and Hextech Mayhem.
When Hextech Mayhem was ready to be born into the world, Secret Powers created a follow-up launch trailer to seal the deal with prospective players. The result was a satisfying drop following the momentum of previous marketing beats.
Secret Powers was also called upon to help round out the launch campaign with the creation of a brand style guide, music trailer, social media assets, and logo animations for the game and the developer, Choice Provisions.
