Parallel TCG is a turn-based card game set in the solar system thousands of years into the future. Players are able to earn cards and build their decks to engage in 1v1 battles against other players, or hone their skills and experiment with play styles against enemy AI opponents. The game is based in NFTs. While NFTs are not required to play the game, they do provide an in-game cosmetic enhancement, as well as the ability to earn $PRIME. If players would like to opt out of the web3 aspect, they can by using “Apparition Cards.” NFT cards provide no in-game advantage over Apparition cards. By having an NFT element, there are real-life stakes attached to every move made in the game, and each decision the player makes has a real impact on their avatar, standing, and returns. It requires players to be strategic and invested, and allows the players to have a say in where the Parallel Universe will go in future developments.
Parallel TCG is set apart from competing popular TCGs on the market with the use of Paragons and a distinct banking system. Paragons each have a powerful passive mechanic that can alter the way the game plays out, or in one case, how the deck is initially constructed. Players can set the tempo by choosing cards in their hand to ‘bank’, providing them with the energy needed to play cards onto the battlefield. This system adds a fresh layer of strategy, as players have full reign and choice over which cards to bank and which cards to keep in battle rotation. There are even ways to pull cards previously banked and play them, giving players that additional control and agency over their approach to the game.
Parallel has also created a unique reservation system (PRSYS) allowing players to first reserve a pack of cards, and then pay for them in waves. This vastly reduces the gas fees associated with NFT drops. Currently there are over 200,000 users waiting to play, thousands active, and 205,000 games of parallel have been played in closed beta.
