Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo is the world’s first “yoyovania”, blending metroidvania-style gameplay with the yoyo as a central tool for traversal, combat, and storytelling. Drawing inspiration from the nostalgic Game Boy Advance-era, it combines retro visuals and music with modern gameplay innovations.

Set in a sprawling urban landscape, the game follows Pippit, a spoiled but endearing bat kid obsessed with yoyos and totally uninterested in the powerful mafia empire run by his Auntie.

Everything changes when a curse traps Auntie inside the very yoyo she’s always ridiculed. Now, with their fates tied together, Pippit must start on an adventure that pits him against the city’s toughest crime lords. With the help of his cursed yoyo, he will learn to navigate the world, take down dangerous foes, and solve engaging puzzles.

The yoyo is central to the game, serving as a multipurpose tool and weapon for fast-paced combat, stylish trick shots, and dynamic traversal across the city. It is a simple object reimagined with mechanical depth, enabling players to navigate the world in a unique yet intuitive fashion. The badge system lets players “buy” upgrades on credit, reinforcing the game’s central themes of debt, power, and capitalism in a way that players can experience first-hand.

With richly animated pixel art, playful characters, and a story that balances comedy with emotional depth, Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo invites players to explore a city bursting with secrets, heart, and cursed yoyo chaos.
