Black Desert Online has maintained regular updates every week since its release in 2015, launching The Mountain of Eternal Winter expansion in summer 2022. The development team continues to strive to offer innovative experiences and creativity in its direction. Using its own proprietary engine, Black Desert has expanded from PC to PlayStation, Xbox and Mobile platforms to showcase a massive open-world RPG showcasing hundreds of characters online simultaneously, while displaying a seamless large, detailed world with distinct regions, beautiful, detailed colors, large-scale castle sieges, and dynamic environments.

2022’s major content update was Black Desert Online's newest expansion, The Mountain of Eternal Winter. A key aspect of this content is that players now have the option to start their adventure from this region, as opposed to playing through the base content first. Eternal Winter is the perfect starting point for players who may feel intimidated about starting an MMORPG that already has years of content in it. The Mountain of Eternal Winter offers incredible vistas that seem beautiful and calm from a distance, but it lives up to its name with endless snowfall that affects visibility and perilous blizzards that will cause damage to the player’s health.

Players can immerse themselves in various experiences in this new snowy region including seeking the Holy Flame Ynix to vanquish Illezra and overcome the ancient protectors’ rites of passages, and assisting the people of Eilton in unearthing forgotten knowledge.
During their quest, players meet Lando, the chatty snow fox that will do his best to offer advice and assistance, and Jordine Ducas, a lifelong foe who is in search of the very same power.
